GUTTING OUR NEW HOUSE AND HANGING ON TO OUR BUDGET FOR DEAR LIFE
Closing Process

We're Closing!

How many times can I sign my name before it starts to look like someone else’s? How many ways can the lawyer explain decks of paper in five words? How many very serious lawyers does it take to close on a house? How many tears can the former owner cry as she hands over the keys as I tear up taking them? How happy can the Sig Other and I be knowing we now own a house that will cost LESS money than the tiny city apartment I’ve been renting for years?!!

How scared am I to think of all the work that’s ahead of us and how unsure am I to watch Sig Other head back to the city and leave me to handle the beginning of it.

Oh, and how thrilled am I to finally meet my new niece?!!!!!!

Day Before Closing

Phone wakes me up. It’s my lawyer’s assistant: “The closing on the house is going to be tomorrow.”

I like to think most people have more notice than that.

But, since the process has been long, we have work to do on the house, and it’s getting cold outside, then great. We’re closing tomorrow. Yay!!!!!
